Nepal and China Agree to Cooperate on Agricultural Development and Technology Transfer

Kathmandu: On Thursday, the Nepal Agricultural Research Council (NARC) and the Sichuan Academy of Agricultural Sciences (SAAS) came together to sign a crucial Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) focused on the development and exchange of agricultural technology and skills.

The MoU, signed by Dr. Dhurba Raj Bhattarai, the Executive Director of NARC, and Dr. Leo Younghang, the Vice-Chairman of SAAS, aims to facilitate technology transfer and the sharing of expertise in the agricultural domain. Both institutions have committed to collaborate on advancing agricultural practices and enhancing the quality of agricultural productions.

As part of this collaboration, SAAS has graciously pledged to provide training to Nepali researchers and technicians, specifically focusing on high-quality agricultural technology. In the near future, Nepali researchers will receive specialized training on maize and sweet yam production.

The visit of a team led by SAAS Vice-Chairman to Nepal further strengthens the partnership between the two organizations. The delegation's three-day trip is expected to bolster knowledge exchange and foster mutual growth in the agricultural sector.

Overall, this MoU sets the stage for meaningful cooperation between Nepal and China in the field of agriculture, promising valuable advancements in farming techniques and the prosperity of both nations' agricultural industries.
